What's Happening
The District of Sooke hosts a free Winter Yard Waste Day January 10, 2026, inviting residents to drop off yard waste and non-invasive plants, supporting FireSmart practices, seasonal cleanup, and community wildfire risk reduction efforts. Sooke residents can drop off materials between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the Sooke Parks Yard, 2070 Kaltasin Road.
Above-average rainfall and possible high winds are forecast. District crews are monitoring conditions. Residents are encouraged to report flooding or hazards, use caution, prepare for potential power outages, and access two 24/7 sandbag stations—including a second location opening by December 19, 2025 at Fire Station 2 (2011 Goodridge Rd), in addition to Ed MacGregor Park parking lot (6752 West Coast Rd)—to support community emergency preparedness.
In 2025, Sooke advanced key projects, completed the OCP, improved mobility, enhanced community spaces, and strengthened regional partnerships. These accomplishments reflect our community’s dedication and collaboration as we continue building a vibrant, connected, and resilient Sooke.
